Whilst we have only been using the name Griffin Kiteboarding for a short time, we have been around since 2002. In 2006 we decided to re brand to Griffin Kiteboarding and began producing Griffin kites to evolve to our new branding.

A little history
Originally founded in 2002 as monkeykites we were not only one of the world's earliest kitesurfing gear designers and manufacturers but also the only 100% Australian kitesurfing hardware design company and manufacturer. We now export to over 50 countries worldwide and are actively involved in Kitesurfing in all these locations.
Griffin Kiteboarding has evolved from Monkeykites which in turn grew out of a collaborative project called Zeroprestige a kite design community, with the aim of creating affordable, functional, no fuss, quality products so that as many people as possible could experience kitesurfing.

Innovative designs
Griffins are designed with a "flat centre" canopy and were the FIRST kites designed with the "centreless" strut system. This exceptionally innovative design provides increased stability, higher lift for jumping and faster, more predictable steering.

Sustainability
At Griffin Kiteboarding we are acutely aware that all products we design and distribute impact on the global and local environments in which we live, work and play. We are dedicated to producing the lowest impact product possible. As such we have implemented a number of initiatives to ensure we meet this goal.

• We have designed all our products to be durable and easily repairable to extend product life. This includes easy to open construction on struts and the leading edge. So we may not have the prettiest seams but they are the easiest to repair and just as strong as any other.
• We have a flat system to minimise energy usage in transportation of our goods. This has the added bonus of significantly reducing costs of delivery which we pass onto you as the consumer.
• We use the best quality materials available for durability, repair and performance.
• We engineer the product to ensure the quality of the construction supports the quality of the materials.
• We have a simple = best policy where we only have features on our kites which are functional. We exclude the decorative 'kite fluff' many other brands have. This reduces material inputs per kite and thus kite weight and cost - again we pass the savings onto you.
• We minimise the use of inorganic, toxic or non recyclable materials in our production. This includes minimal screen printing on the canopy.
• We constantly research, test and implement new and better sustainable practices.

Great Value
Griffins are shipped from the factory to you or your nearest distributor, concentrating on quality and customer service. What you are paying for in some other brands includes shipment via factory > warehouse > distributor > retailer with extra expenses in multiple shipment costs, extra duty and clearance costs, extra markups as the kites change hands and expensive marketing campaigns. Research and development
Our research and development team have extensive experience in kite design, and being kiters, understand what kiters of all levels need. Our international design team works in Australia, Europe, South Africa and USA so we have the opportunity to develop all year round. We test our product on kiters from all levels of ability to make sure we meet their needs.
